In the ever-evolving world of interior design, few spaces capture the essence of personal expression quite like the kitchen. More than just a place to cook, the kitchen is where life unfolds—a haven of memories, intimacy, and personal style. It’s where time slows down, rituals are honored, and the scent of familiar dishes fill the air, creating an atmosphere that reflects who we are, where we’ve come from, and who we aspire to be. Welcome to the heart of the home—a space where the practical meets the personal, and where style isn’t just seen, it’s felt.
In many homes around the world, the kitchen is a place where traditions are kept alive, where the smell of a family recipe fills the air, or where the practice of cooking with love is passed down from one generation to the next. The rituals of the kitchen—whether it’s a cherished Sunday brunch or a late-night snack—create a sense of continuity, grounding us in the present while honoring the past.
One of the strongest and fond memories I have growing up in our family home, was my mother’s figure preparing meals and bakery for the whole family. This image of hers was and still is for me the ultimate expression of love and giving. Her time in the kitchen was an integral part of our daily rhythm. And no matter how hectic my week has been I always find time to do that myself, for my family and loved ones. This act of creation and giving is crucial for me, thus, when I designed my kitchen I designed an extra large kitchen island with a sleek minimalist countertop; idyllic for rolling my dough, making pastries with my little Tasmanian devils and at the same time perfect for gathering with friends and sipping a glass of red wine.
As you already know I love all house corners to reflect in one way or another my aesthetic sensibility, cultural influences and memories; so kitchen is no exception. My vintage jars from beloved Fortnum and Masons in the cabinetry are filled with cardamon and sweet cinnamon sticks from Delhi. In my countertop I have found the perfect spot for my favorite Alessi masterpiece; the Pito Kettle which I own more than 20 years.
Open shelving has actually become a design choice that celebrates both form and function, turning everyday objects—like artisanal ceramics, vintage glassware, and treasured cookbooks—into a curated display of personality. These objects transcend their utility, becoming visual markers of memories and taste. Each item tells a story, making the kitchen feel uniquely yours.
For those drawn to timeless elegance, a neutral palette of whites, grays, and blacks evokes calm sophistication. Classic marble countertops and matte finishes lend an air of understated luxury, creating an environment that is both serene and refined. Meanwhile, for the design-forward, vibrant pops of color and unconventional textures add energy and vitality, infusing the kitchen with a sense of individuality. Colorful Kitchen appliances like this amazing Bodum toaster, can serve perfectly as both a piece of art and a helpful everyday tool.
Always stay playful. Kitchen is a place destinated for adventure, it’s where we discover new ingredients, try new recipes, and explore new flavors. But it’s also where we find ourselves.
From the laughter of my friends gathered for the Christmas Eve feast to the precious quiet mornings where I spent sipping tea alone in my favorite chipped mug, this space is infused with emotion. I would love to know more about you kitchen stories.
