Interior- design - point – of- view speaking, infusing your home with personality via a clever dose of vintage is the thing.
Here in DR we’ve been obsessed with all things beautiful, antiques included.
Me personally, I have a deep love and admiration for antiques and vintage keepsake possessions.
I could spend hours in antique flea markets browsing antique furniture - Paris Saint-Qouen tops them all- or admiring second hand books in tiny little bookshops in Hampstead Grove. Not to mention Mercantefiera in Parma Italy, the true heaven of Roman sculptures and collectables.
If you are more of an online admirer then 1stDibs is the go-to platform as they are the pioneers in collectible vintage and contemporary pieces from both artisans and big houses.
Also, I deeply love and cherish a repurposed-regenerated interior piece.
Some of my favorite keepsakes or regenerative pieces? My grandmothers antique cast-iron coal iron which serves perfectly as a bookend in my library. Regenerative; a vintage 1900s wooden gold painted; hand-curved frame of a painting, found in an old attic which I remastered with an Acropolis gravure bought from the beloved Benaki Museum.
Regenerating bridges worlds as you can transform a beautifully made classic piece to an eye-catching heirloom item that future generations can pass on. Something unique that can become so many things depending on the twist you wish to give.
There are home items though, that for me are meant to be vintage or at least have a vintage accent; like barware. I strongly believe that that the coolest barware is vintage barware -high quality crystal is an unquestionable stunning piece of art and vintage bar cabinets are as unique and surprising as a piece of furniture can be. If you need further proof for that, take a look on this stunning Art Deco Style Italian Marquetry Bar Cart.
Whatever your preferred period or aesthetic, there is something very special waiting for you. It will help your home build its own design story.
Mixing elements materials, colors, scales, and periods and putting everything together in an interesting way.
Vintage antique items alongside surrealist art is my current fav.
Life is a symphony after all.
Here’s to a healthy and happy month ahead!
